All members of the Department have personal email accounts on one of the two central University email systems; Hermes or Exchange Online (ExOL).
All students who started in 2018 or later have ExOL accounts, most staff will have Hermes accounts, but can choose to migrate to ExOL. Both of these services are run by UIS (University Information Services), who provide a wide range of documentation, information and FAQs about use of email within Cambridge (see here).
We can also provide help on configuring your email program. The programs supported on Windows are Thunderbird (with Hermes), Outlook (with ExOL), and on Mac OS Apple Mail (with Hermes or ExOL). Webmail can also be used to access email for any configuration.
The Department also provides various other email services, both internally and in conjunction with UIS.
