Accounts for new users
New users will normally receive two main accounts which give access to several services. Some of the services are run by the Information and Computing Services (ICS) group in the Engineering Department; and some are run by the University Information Services (UIS).
Engineering Department account
Your Engineering Password is used for services within the department, including:
- Central Computing System, also known as the Teaching System
- Office PCs (staff and postgraduates)
- Lab PCs
- The Dyson Centre workstations
- Personal and shared networked file spaces
- The Department gateway systems (gate.eng.cam.ac.uk)
- The CUED wireless network at Engineering
University account
Your University Account password (formerly Raven) is provided by the UIS. It provides access to many online systems, including:
- CamSIS – if you’re a student
- Email (Microsoft Exchange Online)
- Employee Self-Service (ESS) – if you’re a member of staff
- LinkedIn Learning
- Microsoft 365 (including OneDrive and Teams)
- The Managed Print Service
- Moodle
- Eduroam WiFi (using a network token)
