Your access to IT facilities will be based on your role/status in the Department.
People who wish to obtain an account or extend an existing account need to ensure that they hold the correct status in the Department by contacting the appropriate office. Students should contact the relevant offices directly, any other type of member should first contact an administrator to ensure that the relevant paperwork has been submitted.
Please see the following table for guidance on who to contact:

Changing status
If an individual changes from one status to another (for example from a student to a staff member), this should automatically be dealt with aside from a few caveats:
- Users who are staff or visitors but are starting a postgraduate course need to re-register as a student (including PhD students who also have a staff role).
- Users changing from undergraduate to postgraduate students need to re-register.
- Users on a CDT course, who have successfully completed their MRes degree, and are continuing to do a PhD at Engineering may also need to re-register.
- If there is a gap of more than 30 days between statuses, access to some services could be affected.
