This page documents the pool of visitor accounts used for visitors here for less than a week.
The mechanisms we used to use are no longer fully functional and these accounts should not be used without taking expert advice.
In general eduroam or a https://help.eng.cam.ac.uk/uni-of-cam-wireless Visitor ticket will provide most short term
visitors with adequate access.
Log of Visitor account usage
Visitors who require access to the departmental computer network and/or systems,
but who are here for less than one week, may be given access to accounts of the
format visitorN.
For each account please note state as one of:
- IN USE
- FREE
- PENDING (when not in active use, but mail forwarding etc still required)
- ABANDONED (when an account has become too spam ridden to be re-allocated)
For each usage of each account please note
- start date
- end date once finished
- userid of person hosting the visitor
- name of visitor
- remote email address if known & any other relevant notes

temp-www – FREE 02.12.09 – PURGED 11.11.14
This is intended for kiosk type web use on Linux teaching systems machines only. Since it uses saved mozilla profiles it is likely to need maintenance in terms of refreshing the profile template if there have been significant updates to firefox since it was last used. In 2014 it was last used in 2009, so has been purged. It can be resurrected if needed but will need rebuilding.

For each visitor keep a note of whether allocated or free and whether
the mail is being forwarded to operators or elsewhere if disused.
Also keep a log of when they were used.
